History
DAN-doors a/s has undergone a change of the guard 18th February 2008, where Kenneth Agner and Tommy Christensen took over the day-to-day management of the company. Furthermore, three of the seven employees who were first given the opportunity of investing a small amount in class B shares remain employed by the company at different levels.
DAN-doors started out with a total of thirteen employees, all with knowledge of the product area chill and freezer room doors for the food industry.
Only one year after the establishment of the company, DAN-doors was able to buy the originally rented property which was taken over 1st August 1984. After the first two years which saw few additions to the number of employees, their numbers increased dramatically and the need for more elbow room became pressing. This was ensured through the acquisition of a neghbouring building at Industrivej 17 which was subsequently joined with Industrivej 19. Later it became possible for the company to buy the 2,000 square metres plot of land at Industrivej 21, bringing the total land area up to 10,000 square metres. In 1991, a construction project was launched, linking the original buildings and resulting in 4,000 square metres of production premises and 600 square metres of office space.
In 1989, the first sales company was set up in the UK, while subsidiaries have subsequently been established in Germany and Sweden. Today, DAN-doors a-s employs a total of 85 people and has an agent in the Netherlands – Tempo-deur BV – who take cares of sales and after sales in the Netherlands and Belgium. The English subsidiary has been taken over from our agent EURO-doors Ltd., who has fitters all over Great Britain.
In 1992, DAN-doors was awarded the honorary prize “Frederik IX’s Hæderspris for Fortjenstfuld Indsats for Dansk eksport” for its promotion of Danish exports.
Throughout its many years of development and manufacture of chill and freezer room doors, DAN-doors has developed an international concept – DAN-matic – with focus on the delivery of know-how and door fittings for the manufacture of chill and freezer room doors. Today, this concept is highly successful in a number of overseas markets, such as the Central- and South America as well as the Middle- and the Far East. DAN-matic is also employed in our joint venture company, Sinodan, which is situated in Guangzhou, China – for the Chinese and Asian market.
From the very outset, DAN-doors has aimed to recruit highly-skilled employees and to offer good working conditions and terms of employment in a pleasant environment. The DAN-doors organisation is built up around an innovative management with the setting of clear and visible targets, while staff training is given a high priority. One of the aims is to motivate employees to assume greater responsibility and increase their technical expertice.
DAN-doors a/s has undergone a change of the guard 18th February 2008, where Kenneth Agner and Tommy Christensen took over the day-to-day management of the company. This comes at a time when we have just had a very positive financial year with an expected profit of DKK 3.8 million before tax, a record group turnover of approx DKK 100 million and an order book amounting to DKK 20 million – the highest in the company’s history.
Kenneth Agner and Tommy Christensen are 44 and 42 years old respectively and both have broad technical and commercial backgrounds in the industry, making them ideally equipped – together with the rest of the staff – to take the company forward along the path set for DAN-doors back in 1983.
“For us, the acquisition of DAN-doors a/s is an opportunity to realise a shared dream of getting our feet under our own table in a really exciting business which is a market leader within its product area,” declare Kenneth Agner and Tommy Christensen. “We feel there is huge market and product potential which we’re looking forward to making the most of,” they say, while also emphasising that they have great respect for the platform built up by the previous owners and their employees in the past 25 years, a position from which they are looking forward to continuing the growth.
On 2 May 2008, there will be a joint reception to celebrate DAN-doors’ 25th anniversary, providing an opportunity for you to say farewell to the old owners as well as hello to the new ones.
